A trip by railbike in the Molignée Valley
Discover the picturesque corners of the Molignée Valley by travelling along the old railway line in a handcar. There are three routes to choose from: 6,8 and 14-kilometre. The shortest of them, from Falaën to Maredsous, will take us through Sosoye, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia, past rock formations, to the Maredsous station. From here, after a twenty-minute walk, we will reach the wonderful abbey, where you can taste the cheeses made here and the beer brewed there. After two hours, you set off on a return journey along the same route, the entire trip lasting three and a half hours.
Trail from Warnant to Falaën - 14 kilometers of pleasure
The eight-kilometre route from Warnant to Falaën runs mainly through a forested area. Along the way, you pass an old quarry and the ruins of the 14th-century Montaigle Castle, classified as a major Walloon heritage site. The longest 14 kilometre route from Warnant to Maredsous is a combination of the 6 and 8 kilometre routes. It should be noted that the journey is made in both directions on the same tracks, so breaks are necessary at various stations. The longest route, including a visit to the abbey, takes five hours and thirty minutes.
