Going down 510 the stairs leading to the bottom of the cave, we are in a place remembering prehistoric times. While traveling the 1,6 kilometer route, you can admire countless stalagmites (the highest of them is over 7 meters high), stalactites, draperies, monumental chambers the size of the cathedral, headed by weapon's room located about 110 meters underground, where a light and sound show takes place.
Traces of the first visits to the cave come from the mid-eighteenth century. Gray discoloration of fossils resulted from the use of kerosene lamps at that time. It was only later that electric lighting was installed.pokojem broni,

To reach the cave, you must first visit the small town of Han-sur-Lesse, located about 6 kilometers from Rochefort. There are cash desks here where we can buy entrance tickets to the cave, and a historic tram will take us to the place of sightseeing. During the ride we will pass the second great attraction of the area, which is the Wildlife Park. Established in 1970 a year, on 250 hectares, the park is a shelter for 650 animals living in Europe. This is the only park in Belgium where you can admire the big European five, i.e. bison, wolf, brown bear, lynx and wolverine. In the park, the 5,5 kilometers route can be covered on foot, which will take us about 3 hours, or a safari bus 1,5 hours.
We can return to Han-sur-Lesse on foot, along the way entering the PrehistoHan Museum with an exhibition 50 years of excavations, 9000 years of history. If we have a ticket to Cave of Han, admission to this museum is free. On the other hand, people with a ticket to the Wildlife Park can visit the Han 1900 Museum for free, presenting 50 scenes from everyday village life in 1900 a year. When planning to visit the Cave of Han, remember that it is not suitable for people in wheelchairs.
