DURBUY - is a charming town, hidden in a narrow gorge on the Ourthe River, among the gentle wooded hills of south-eastern Belgium, in the province of Luxembourg. Undoubtedly, what attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, is the esteem of the smallest city in the world.
Life here revolves around the large market square, from which narrow cobbled streets branch off, lined with 17th-18th century houses made of grey stone, the main building material in this area. Each tenement house has its own unique character, many are decorated with flowers or antiques from past centuries. On the ground floor of many of them there are shops offering handmade products by local artists or specialties, such as jams, typical of this district, as well as restaurants, of which Durbuy has no shortage. The castle, the city's biggest attraction, is not open to visitors. It is in private hands. The city received city rights in 1331 from the then King of Bohemia and Count of Luxembourg, Jean de Bohème. In the Middle Ages, Durbuy became an important center of trade and industry.

Nowadays, it survives mainly on tourism and recreation. Apart from strolling through the charming narrow streets, relaxing in the many restaurants, or enjoying the beautiful view from the hill, Durbuy has a lot more to offer.
The inconspicuous Ourthe River attracts kayaking and other water sports enthusiasts all summer long. High, steep rock walls tempt climbing enthusiasts, and the surrounding forested hills invite you to hike.

Homalius Rock Better known as Falize, it is U-shaped. This rock is 300 million years old, and its peak is the highest point in the city. Access to the rocks is possible at any time.

Topiaires Park The Topiaires Park boasts a unique collection of trees in Europe, covering an area of over 10,000 m2. It was planned in the style of Renaissance and Baroque gardens. You can admire it here about 250 surprising figures of people and animals carved in bushes. www.topiairesdurbuy.be

Durbuy Maze and Tourist Park The labyrinth and tourist park are visited by tens of thousands of tourists every year. The total area of the park is 11 ha. www.lelabyrinthe.be

A tourist bus takes tourists to the Belvedere viewpoint, from which you can admire the town and the magnificent panorama. During the ride, the bus passes the city walls, a beautiful medieval castle and other attractions. The entire journey takes 30 minutes. You can also reach the viewing platform on foot.
